What a mess! Wasn't it just last year that there were lots of wildfires? I thought that everything burnable had already been burned up! I hope you'll stay safe.

We had a few fires here last year, but nothing like this. We have had no rain in several years, and everything is just tinder. We got wind off of tropical storm Lee, but no rain, and it just takes one spark for things to get out of control. Most of the fires are so big they can't be fought on the ground, and they're jumping highways and rivers. It's never been this bad. And we've never had one here in town!

As long as we don't have another one here in town, I am fine. So worried for those south of us, though, and we will probably start getting evacuees here soon. So many people have lost everything they own--home, pets, livestock, family. It's just mind-numbing but I just posted another entry with video so you can see how fast (and hear) the fires are spreading.
