So DNA tests confirmed that the skeleton excavated in a car-park in Leicester really is Richard III, our legendary wicked monarch, and I surprised myself by having a LOT of feelings about him. I went to the Thoughtbubble Comic Convention last weekend with my brother, and we had a fantastic time! It was a pretty huge event, for the UK. First awesome thing was that they had local Roller Derby teams acting as security on the door - no-one was gonna slip past them without paying! I had a lovely walk with my Mum and Dad yesterday, in the Wyre Forest about an hour from their house. It was beautiful at this time of year, all the leaves turning golden. Very muddy though! I got some pretty pictures:

My office closed up yesterday for the Christmas holidays, so I've spent the day at home wrapping presents and watching seasonal TV. Right now I'm watching the Royal Ballet Company's performance of The Nutcracker, which I really only turned on so as to have a bit of background music. I didn't expect to get so engrossed in it! I'm so sorry that the fantasy author Diana Wynne Jones has died. I haven't seen any news reports yet - Neil Gaiman, who was her friend, was with her at the end, and he's just announced it. She was one of my favourite authors, and even though she was technically a children's author, I love her books just as much now as when I was twelve years old ( Read more... )
