My office closed up yesterday for the Christmas holidays, so I've spent the day at home wrapping presents and watching seasonal TV. Right now I'm watching the Royal Ballet Company's performance of The Nutcracker, which I really only turned on so as to have a bit of background music. I didn't expect to get so engrossed in it! I've never really paid much attention to ballet, but there's as much acting as dancing in this performance, and I'm totally charmed by the chemistry between all the leads. It makes me wish I'd gone for ballet lessons when I was little!
Anyway, I got all crafty today. I've got a DVD boxset for my Mum's gift, but I wanted to make her something, so I made her this beaded bookmark! It's made of waxed linen cord, some odd beads and bits of broken jewellery I had, and the best part, a miniature copy of Tolkien's 'Return Of The King' that I found in a Dolls' House and Miniatures shop! The book's pages really open, although they're not printed, only the cover. There were all kinds of mini classics in the shop, I would have really liked 'The Hobbit' (especially after seeing THAT TRAILER) but I know Mum will like this!
After that I was still inspired and I realised I'd run out of my own bookmarks - I always have three or four books on the go - so I made a couple of Killjoys bookmarks using some MCR stickers that came free with Kerrang magazine :D
Other than that, I've been re-watching the first Sherlock Holmes movie in preparation for seeing the second. I hope the fannish reports I've heard of Mary being awesome are true! And I'm looking forward to Doctor Who on Christmas Day, and just spending time with my parents and sister. I hope you all have a great holiday <3
