Diana Wynne Jones
I'm so sorry that the fantasy author Diana Wynne Jones has died. I haven't seen any news reports yet - Neil Gaiman, who was her friend, was with her at the end, and he's just announced it. She was one of my favourite authors, and even though she was technically a children's author, I love her books just as much now as when I was twelve years old and picked up 'Witch Week' for the first time. Everything she wrote was intelligent, humorous, full of wonderfully woven layers and deeply satisfying. The kind of books you can return to again and again. I will miss her.
