The foot is loose!! Yes, today they removed my cast. Yay!! And let me tell you... it's gross. Super gross! The leg was completely white with dead skin and my heel and foot look like it is covered in leather. I'm super excited to start working on my mantua for the late 17th/early 18th century dance demo in May. I've looked at my linen and I don't like any of the color combinations so I am ordering a different color for the mantua. The petticoat and stomacher are going to come from some linen in my stash. I haven't been updating as much recently. Seems like work went through the roof the last couple of weeks. It had gotten a little slow during the summer as it always does. People are on vacation and many hospitals have their fiscal year end in late summer so many budgets are out of money during the summer until the new fiscal starts. And boy did it ( Read more... )

I really wanted to do the matching gold and black outfits, but I realized that I would need to make a stencil and order other supplies. As a result, that project got pushed back. I've always preferred silk noil over linen. It just seemed softer against the skin. I have used it for linings and such for years. I even have an Italian gamurra made of it. The linen I ordered for David's garb came today. That was pretty fast considering it came from the US. :) I have 8 yards of black and 6 yards of gold medium weight linen. As we are getting back into SCA stuff, David and I have been searching through the boxes we have left (there are many!) for our medieval/renaissance garb. We've found most of it, I think. What I have come to realize is that we are in desperate need of more garb. Now I know that I always want new things to wear ;-) but seriously... we need garb.
