I haven't been updating as much recently. Seems like work went through the roof the last couple of weeks. It had gotten a little slow during the summer as it always does. People are on vacation and many hospitals have their fiscal year end in late summer so many budgets are out of money during the summer until the new fiscal starts. And boy did it start back up with a bang! I have work I have to get done this weekend too. *sigh* I am trying to balance that with the sewing I need to do. If I know a program is going to take a while to run, I get some hand stitching done in the 15 minutes or so I have. But that doesn't happen often.
Progress report on garb:
My underdress: sleeve buttonholes still not done, but this was expected. I am going to have to baste them together for the event, methinks, and do them after.
My overdress: Buttonholes still need to be done down the front opening. Tippets still not attached and one still needs to be finished. I may go without to the event.
David's underdoublet: Needs eyelets. I am going to try to get them done today.
David's cotte: I did a mock up out of the pattern that I made. Looked horrible on him. It was a looser cut that was going to be belted up. As he has a little bit of a belly now that he is out of the military, it just was not flattering at all. So I have recut the mock up to be more of a fitted style... basically a long cotehardie. There are some images out there of similar garments, but it wasn't the look I was originally going for. It will need to be done with a pendant sleeve so I will have to finish the sleeves to his underdoublet too. Gah.
David's hood: Not started.
The linen I ordered last week was delivered yesterday. It is so lovely! I have 4 yards each of vineyard green (a muted but dark green), crimson, bluebonnet (gorgeous!) and pervenche (which is a pale grey-blue but looks grey when paired with the bluebonnet). I've already gotten the crimson in the wash this morning. I may make his cotte/cotehardie/whatever out of the crimson and hold the gold to make a heraldic one. Not sure though.
