While my wife was off with her sister and brother today I stayed home with the pup and did house things.

Thursday night I fired up my twelve year old pc, and, while waiting for FireFox to load, the system restarted… or tried to. An agonizing hour later, after trying to get access to restore/backups of my files, I gave up and hit cancel and restart, and all seemed well. A quick “sfc /scannow” came up without finding errors ( Read more... )

We had an air conditioner drip pan in the attic overflow at work. The drain lines get plugged with yuck and there are no failsafes (floats or sensors) to shut the system down before things get messy. So the water came through the ceiling of our program room and wet panels hit the floor amongst the puddles. After cleaning was done, the pan emptied ( Read more... )

I’ve been told to reduce my computer/component hoard inventory at the Library, and reluctantly agreed. It was time, I suppose. I’ve slowly amassed the bits and pieces from around the building into a sizable collection in the Reference room. Vacation week! This is the first stretch of days I'll have had off since my knee injury in March. I have lots I can do to prep for water, and for Winter. If my body holds out I may get some done.

Almost walked into a skunk this morning at 5:30, in front of the library. Bright oncoming headlights made me look down, and I saw an animal scurrying across the sidewalk ahead of me.
