Vacation ended, and I have finished with the upstairs bathroom re-do. I even took my first shower there last evening! The fan works well and the walls and ceiling look nice. Can’t ask for more ( Read more... )

Losing track, that is.

I estimate this project will extend into next weekend: finish scraping, cleaning, spackle, sand, caulk, prime, paint, cover register, maybe paint register cover, cut/stain trim in two places, reinstall fan, and whatever else I may need to do :o) Except for installing a new shower rod and a hook on the wall next to the sink, ( Read more... )

Today was to be clean the walls with bleach and a brush. I noticed, though, that the spots weren’t going away as planned hoped. I think the bleach I was using had been diluted at some point by someone here as it really didn’t have a strong odor, or maybe the walls were as clean as they were going to get. This crew has tipped you the black spot in full council…Black spots, says I, abound. There are quite a few on the bathroom walls and ceiling, well into the paint and plaster. They’ve appeared over time, slowly at first, here and there, then you realize how many there actually are! A losing battle. I spritzed them with vinegar today, as well as ( Read more... )
