how about almost all of Deathly Hallows? cos, seriously, that book pisses me off. it felt almost like JKR went "Eh, fuck it. I've got them all hooked now. I don't need to write a really good book." so she slopped together some half-assed fan fiction type story and thought it would appease her readers.
of the series, this is my least favorite book. too much time spent in the woods. too much whining on, i think, the entire trio's part. and too many pointless, senseless deaths. i said it before. i get that it was war. but seriously? almost all of the senior members of the OotP? really? they all had to die? Mad Eye didn't bother me so much. the man had lived a long, paranoid life and all. but splitting up the twins. and killing off both Remus and Tonks when they were still so new in their relationship to leave little Teddy without parents. Dobby and Hedwig! come on! do they all have to die? i mean... plot devices are wonderful, but Harry had already determined that he was going kill off Moldy Shorts. nobody else had to die to reinforce that decision. bad enough that Sirius had to die. (i realize he was written into the books solely for that purpose, but still!) and then Dumbledore. Harry's love of Dumbledore was really all that was needed to seal the deal. because he'd already lost enough.
i still think she could have cut out most of the forest shit and put out a couple hundred page book that was better than what we got. i kind of think we deserved better than that. and so did her characters.
