time for another installment of the 30 day Harry Potter meme. aren't you just thrilled?
today's took a little thought, but i finally came up with something.

hmmm. favorite scene from my favorite book. since i listed Sorcerer's Stone as my favorite book, this is kind of a hard one. there are a few in there that i love. like the first night at the castle, with the Sorting Hat ceremony. that one was so awesome because we got our first look at what life at Hogwarts was going to be like for everyone. and then there's that lovely scene, first day in Potions, when Snape storms in and delivers his speech to everyone. that one is always good. but i think i'm going to have to say the last scene in the Great Hall, when Dumbledore is awarding points. there are Harry and Ron, all banged up and having just survived their first of many dangerous adventures. the looks on the trio's faces as Dumbledore lists their acts and the points. and then, finally, there's Neville... just to know he's been included. that was such a great bit.
from the movie... this is actually a toss up. surprisingly, the very first bit where Narcissa goes to Snape and begs him to protect Draco. i was totally skeptical about the movie version of Narcissa because... WTF? the hair? what was that shit? but then i saw it on film and just... i can overlook the fact that the movies envisioned Narcissa in a different manner than i did because i really think that Helen McCrory nailed Narcissa. that whole scene sold me on the woman as Narcissa. and the other scene that i really loved in that movie was the duel between Harry and Draco in the bathroom. you get that glimpse before hand of a Draco who is slowly unraveling under the stresses applied by the Dark Lord and his family. then the fight happens and Harry uses Sectumsempra and he sees what he's done to Draco. then Snape comes in and Harry gets that look... yeah. i really liked that whole bit.
