Bathroom renovation almost done!
Phew, painting of the bathroom walls, beadboard, and baseboard heaters is done! I've discovered that perhaps I'd rather spend a stupid amount of money on buying new heating covers than redoing the rest of them. Sanding the rusty metal wasn't pleasant. House Repairs Update
Well we're finally seeing some progress on the house. Our electrician/plumber will be starting work this coming Monday and will be there all week. He thinks he'll probably still be finishing up on Saturday so we'll be moving on Sunday (glad the following Monday is a holiday). Day 3-5 of house repairs
After our first weekend of work we went over to the house one day during the week to scrape some more of the bathroom and clean the kitchen. During the kitchen cleaning we found mold on the wall behind the fridge. Ben's mom opened the wall up and found mold. The pipes were leaking so she put a bucket under them to catch some water. Today was our second day working on the house. More exhaustion and really painful feet and back. Ben's parents and his sister helped us out. Sarah and her friend cleaned the kitchen, which was awesome. They cleaned out the fridge and the grease on the wall. I'm not sure if they did other stuff or not. Teetering on the edge of my seat
Ooh, I'm so excited. We're getting a second chance on a house and it looks like ours is the best offer. They're not opening it up to new people, and everyone else had FHA loans which the bank does not want to deal with. I hope we hear back tomorrow if our offer is accepted, but if not, we should definitely know by Tuesday.

Housing Update... again
We've settled into our new apartment now - fully marked by the dogs and all *_* But I'm getting anxious to move on to a house. Our lease is up in November, and if we buy a house by the end of the year we'll get an $8,000 tax credit. Most recently we put an offer on another house in Falls Church. We raised our budget by $30,000 so we were hoping we ( Read more... ) -
Doing the Apartment Hustle
It turns out the damage to the walls and floors of our apartment is worse than they thought. Right now we're using the bathroom in the vacant apartment next to us because we can't go into ours. They've offered, however, to have us permanently move into that apartment.
