I took these pics yesterday when I drove through Mineola, TX.  There is a working, passenger train station there, which is not a common thing in Texas!

I found this on the sidewalk near the middle school, which makes me assume that one of the students did it.  There is an underground tunnel for crossing the street (not the one in the picture) and it is often targeted for spray paint graffitti by the students and then someone is paid to come and paint over the graffitti.  I'm assuming that's what ( Read more... )

I found this poor fella in the road when I went for a walk in my neighborhood about a week ago.   Just around the corner from where I found the squished snake, I had previously seen two owls in a tree top and about another block away from that, I've seen a hawk atop a telephone pole.   I suspect that if a car had not killed the little snake, the  ( Read more... )

I love the sound of a train in the distance.  I suspect it has something to do with the fact that both of the earliest homes I can remember had train tracks nearby.  Hearing a train says "home" to me.  It's a comforting, familiar sound that signals, 'all is right with the world.'  Seeing a train does not have the same effect on me as hearing the ( Read more... )
