Clark & Eights: the epic AU saga

Jul 13, 2007 13:26

It all starts innocently enough as a random Nexus encounter which quickly turns to the not-so-innocent when Red K is accidentally introduced into the equation. The two then retreat to Downside for some violent and kinky sex. Okay, a lot of violent and kinky sex.

Some time later, Eights takes "Kal" to see the sunrise and join the switch party. It ends in more violent and kinky sex. But the Scorcher just keeps on coming, so after more time has passed, Kal starts to get a little unruly, which results in the two of them being trapped in a glass bubble for a year. Kal isn't happy, but eventually he calms down enough to agree to yet more sex to pass the time.

Months later, things really start to go downhill, when the effects of Red K start to wear off. Predictably, Clark is mortified, horrified, and freaked out over what's happened. The blame game is played for a while and then since they're still stuck together in close quarters, they actually start to get along and eventually decide that what they both need is a vacation from their responsibilities. Freedom is discussed and Eights decides to help Clark out with his fear of falling from heights (not heights themselves). Finally, time's up and after they are both safely returned to Eights' house, Clark gets domestic while Eights goes off to secure their mundane vacation in Smallville.

This time around, things get off to a good start, with a tour of Clark's house and a nap for Eights-- er, Anna. Once recovered, there's dinner, during which Anna's cover story is established, and then a trip into town for Anna to get some clothes and Clark to visit Chloe and Lois. Upon returning to the farm, a sunset is shared and Clark is revealed to be a big baby when it comes to minor pain. Afterward, there is pie by a fire, with a side order of awkwardness, and then Clark leaves Anna to her own devices while he gets some sleep.

The next morning, Clark is annoyed to find Anna on the barn roof having enjoyed the sunrise. Breakfast is served and then chores are completed while Anna dances. Then they're off to Metropolis for the day, where lunch is acquired before indulging in a movie. A quick trip to the Daily Planet to drop off a coffee for Chloe turns out to be more exciting than expected. After disaster is averted, it's off to the Metropolis Museum for more tourist adventures, not to mention a chance meeting with Lex Luthor, which results in them being followed for the rest of their trip.

Night falls, surveillance ensues and things really do not go well - at all - when Anna decides to go for a midnight walk and gets hit by Lex's Porsche. Clark arrives too late - Lex has already seen Anna come back to life - but he manages to haul her back to the farmhouse where they argue and injuries are tended. Eventually, things calm down because hugs can cure almost anything. To a point.

Real morning arrives, and a slightly awkward and half naked breakfast is eaten before chores are once again taken care of, with Anna again dancing for the chickens. The day's activities include a walk around Crater Lake, followed by foreplay horseplay by the water. Naturally, they both get soaked and after retreating back into the truck to get warm, things take an unexpected turn and a major makeout session occurs. Par for the course, Clark withdraws in short order and the planned picnic continues in awkward fashion.

Back at the house, Anna tries to talk to Clark about what happened. As usual, this is easier attempted than accomplished. There is a small measure of success and then it is decided to head back out to the windmill in Chandler's Field so Anna can climb, Clark can freak out about the height and the sunrise can be watched. The semi-happy just can't last, as Anna spots some of Lex's men watching them. After a brief argument and to no one's surprise (except Clark's) she runs off to investigate.

This proves to not be the best of ideas, as a brief conversation with Lex only leads to Anna being drugged, kidnapped and experimented on. She wakes up during the procedures, however, and fire-moves through the building to where Lex is watching via monitor. Unsuccessful attempts are made to get him to confess to his involvement before Anna ultimately decides to kidnap him right back. They chat in the middle of nowhere and then a really strange thing happens: they start to get along. Anna relents and takes Lex home where a sort of unspoken truce may or may not have been forged.

Finally, Anna returns to the farm where Clark is anxiously waiting for her. Explanations are offered and accepted and then there is well deserved sleep. The following morning gets off to a good start, but naturally, that just can't last as Clark remembers his mom will be home the next day and his take on how to deal with the situation doesn't go over well, leading to unexpected revelations from both of them, Clark getting his powers back and finally, some semblance of a resolution.

A short while later, it's time for lunch in which there is actual discussion of what happened when they were Downside, as well as Clark finally asking what happened with Lex. Afterward, Clark tries to explain his speed in preparation for actually using it to complete some chores - dirty chores which necessitate showers and laundry one finished. During laundry, things get a little heated until flashbacks to previous heated encounters arise and kill the mood. For a while. That evening they watch the sunset in the Loft and talk about the stars and Downside and Krypton, leading to some promises being made before they start groping each other. Again. Not long after, they relocate to Clark's room where... there is the eventual Fade to Black.

The morning after, there is cuteness, glossed over morning sex, more cuteness and breakfast. And then Martha comes home. It doesn't take long for it to be clear that Clark and his mother need to talk alone. Afterward, he catches up with Anna and they try to work things out. A hesitant accord is reached and just as they're ready to go back to the farm and talk to Martha together, Anna sort-of-kind-of-but-not-completely-on-purpose takes them back Downside.

The chain of events is predictable, really. Clark once again inadvertently gets into the Scorcher and Kal re-emerges, although it takes Anna a while to catch on. Much glossed over sex ensues but as the Red K really settles into his system, some old and violent habits come to the surface, leading to an unfortunate lover's spat when Anna tries to do the right thing. Kal takes off and is unlucky enough to meet someone Eights had warned him about before: Jasmine. A stunning amount of graphic torture follows. (Please to be noting this is NOT an exaggeration. That link isn't fun, folks.) Eventually, Eights comes to the rescue but it's Kal-El she finds and takes him back to Smallville, before disappearing from the scene.

Clark and Anna each cope with recent events in their own way, dragging Jimmy and Chloe along for the ride while the muns get their fanfic on. Anna intrigues the reporters, becoming known as a vigilante fighting off Metropolis thugs on the streets, while Clark tries to get his life back together. Eventually, Clark finds Anna and takes her to Oliver Queen's empty Clocktower condo to get cleaned up and try to figure out what the next step should be. It goes about as well as expected given recent events.

As promised, the following morning Clark returns and breakfast is made. Anna tries to make serious conversation but after Clark dodges just about every question, she gets fed up and goes for a walk. Clark follows suit, though not Anna specifically, even if they both end up at the Daily Planet. In the basement, Clark explains things to Chloe - who invites herself and Jimmy over for dinner - while Anna and Jimmy have a chat on the roof and some secrets are told.

Upon returning to the condo, Anna gets excited about cooking and during her endeavours, they try the serious converstion bit one more time. The results are slightly more promising, if angrier and with far more abuse of italics.

After things calm down a little, it's time for dinner and Chloe and Jimmy arrive right on schedule. Things are initially a little uncomfortable for those not invilved in the world of Chloe and Clark, but it's not long before the awkward level hits its stride, with Anna abandoning the table for a nice torch in the bathroom while Clark angrily clears the dishes. Chloe gets the hint and takes Jimmy out in a graceful exit, leaving Clark and Anna to yet again try to hash things out. It doesn't exactly work.

The next day, conversation picks up where it left off the previous day and there is a succinct canon review, courtesy Clark. Following this, the subject gets a little more philosophical with a talk about destiny and personal responsibility. There might be resolutions. Finally, Clark tries to make some practical decisions, but that goes to pot when the Lex issue is brought up again. This leads to a discussion about their relationship (Clark and Anna's), or the current lack thereof. For once, it seems to end rather positively.

We pick things up the following morning in which Clark makes a hasty exit to do work and Anna decides to go visit Chloe for some girl talk. This starts off light hearted, but eventually turns serious when Jimmy is brought up and then Chloe gives her honest opinion on things Anna and Clark. Oh, and just in case Anna wasn't sure, Chloe lays down the party line on how to deal with Lex. Fortunately, the girls end things on a more humorous note.

Clark and Anna meet up back at Oliver's later that afternoon and Clark seems to have all things apartment and job related figured out, as well as paperwork, but that's a little more involved. Fast forward to a few days later and Anna has an apartment and job secured and Clark stops by with dinner, which launches a discussion about his inability with chopsticks. After they've eaten, Clark pops a question Anna is delighted, until she finds out he asked Chloe first, but she gets over it. Clark then gets to be concerned at Anna's lack of furniture and they decide they'd be more comfortable at the farm, which they race to. In doing so, Anna spots a newspaper clipping about the famed Lex-Lana-Clark triangle and questions him about it. Clark spells out more explicitly the terms of Anna's promise about Lex and then there is some good old fashioned cuddling that can't lead to sex because they have no place to have it.

The night of the party arrives and they make their way to the hotel. Clark is obviously uncomfortable but Anna's doing all right and he relaxes soon enough. That is, of course, until Lex enters the picture and sweeps Anna into a tango. Clark and Lana are not pleased, but are not pleased together and all this just creates tension when proper introductions are made. After Anna gets in one more quick dance with Oliver and Clark manages to find Chloe, they're ready to leave. The after conversation, as one might imagine, does not go well.

Finally, despite arguments the night before, all seems well. For now.
