Sure enough, the door opens as if they're entering the front foyer of Clark's house. He glances around the entrance way and then stops to listen ( Read more... )

"All right," says Anna with an easy shrug. "Museum sounds good to me."

The jaw-clenching occasions an appraising look. Ingeniously, Anna hides how pleasing to the eye she finds the gesture by overtly inquiring, by means of an eyebrow, as to its origins.

If Clark gets what the look is for, he's not elaborating. Rather, he'll just hold the door open for her to go back out to the street.

"Back to the truck, then."

To the door-holding, "Thanks."

And again, she'll hide a blush by looking up at the sky.

"Clouds. That's never going to get old," she remarks with a smile.

"Maybe if you're lucky, it'll snow." It doesn't look like it will to him, but one never knows.

"Just be glad it's not twister season," he adds, as they casually walk back toward the vehicle.

"Twister season?" she asks idly.

No, she's not quite in the know.

"You're in Tornado Alley," he explains. "I know you've seen the Wizard of Oz. It's Kansas."

This would be the kind of bright, wicked grin most people do not associate with someone who's just heard she might be in for a tornado.

"Read," she corrects absently, tapping her fingers against her lips in a gesture of contemplation. "Not seen. Read."

Technically, she's just been told she's not going to be in for a tornado.

Dryly, "I think my point still stands."

Not anytime soon, at the least. But Eights is used to thinking of a mere season as no more than a blip, a length of time hardly worth considering.

"Pity," she responds, her smile still richly thoughtful. "I'd've liked to see one of those. Y'don't exactly get them in Ottawa."

"There's a whole section on them at the museum, even a wind tunnel to simulate what it's like inside one."

He pauses briefly.

"It's not terribly accurate, but it's there."

"Well, yeah, if it were accurate you wouldn't be able to go inside," she points out ruefully. "From what I know, anyways. Which ain't much. We don't get weather Downside."

"Yeah, I know. I've been in one. It was," he pauses again trying to think of the right word, "windy."

"Gee, ya think?"

Yes, she's teasing him.

"It was!" Clark grins, reaching the truck. "And pretty loud. But mostly really, really windy."

"Which was wholly unexpected, I'm sure. I mean, tornadoes. Windy. Who'd have thought that would happen?"

Anna giggles.

"It was a revelation," he chuckles. "I wouldn't recommend it, though."
