I've always been a fan of method acting. I had an early translation of the Stanislavski System I used as an insomnia cure in my early to mid teens. The method is (very briefly and simplified) you identify the feelings and emotions of the character in the scene you wish to portray and find a personal memory or experience that is sideways ( Read more... )

Due to a freaky amount of snow that fell from the heavens, I watched the space shuttle launch today. I'm pretty sure that's the first live shuttle launch I've watched since 1986. I had a series of visceral responses watching the launch today that I'll be unpacking for years to come. What I said on Twitter at the time was:

I can tell it's been awhile since I was in the city. My brain itches and craves stimuli you can only get in an urban environment. I miss the food like crazy too.
