I imagine that really would eat at him. Never mind that what he could do was limited by the fact that if he were found out, he would be able to help no one at all, I can see him beating himself up for not shielding them better.

I feel Severus anguish. He was always alone, in the shadows, trying to protect the innocents. Yes, a few slipped through the cracks but that is all part and parcel of the game.

What will he do now??? With Hermione holding onto his hand? You can not stop there, seriously.
