Of course, after the hand-holding bit, he might have a hint of a clue of the possibilities that exits for him.

You've handled his feelings of guilt and fear for the future quite deftly. They are clearly expressed, but in a crisp, Snape-ish way. His willingness to reveal them to Hermione is quite telling, if subtle.
