I haven't been around much lately, so just a quick update on the State of Me...

Easter was fun - went to stay with the parental units, did a lot of singing at church, made £9 profit at a casino, and came home with my own body weight in chocolate.

On Monday I thought I knew what I was doing.  I took the course application form to lecturer H to check over, who said it was fine, and commiserated with me that it wasn't eligible for funding.  Dissertation adviser A then tried to find a way to make it eligible for funding, which involved me sitting in her office for an ( Read more... )

 
3,700 words written on my dissertation today.  Some of it will probably have to be rewritten, but I'm nearly up to date now.  I can't believe I've been sitting in this chair for 12 hours (less toilet breaks and lunch)...

No, not the obvious type of exam nightmare (ie night-before-the-exam sleeping-through-the-alarm, total-amnesia-regarding-all-things-relevant, none-of-my-pens-work nightmare).

Instead, this was last night, two nights after an exam (which went fine... I think).  And it freaked me out a bit, even though it wasn't properly scary.

Blimey.  Aquaplaning  driving into uni today was interesting.  There was more water than road.  One of the football pitches on the university sports ground is three feet underwater.  I'm quite glad the campus is on the side of a hill... though if they want to cancel my exam on Friday due to flooding, I won't mind...

Well, the Student Finance thing has been sorted out and I now have lots of lovely money in my bank account.  For which read: I am in the black for at least the next month so have just bought Season 4 of Babylon 5 on DVD - and S2 of Stargate Atlantis will be next... Frivolous with my money?  Moi?

Yesterday was a bit of a day.... (under cuts because it's all personal and probably not very interesting)

I went to a departmental tea/coffee and mince pie thing in the morning, and one of the non-academic staff behaved very strangely towards me - almost hostile.  She was in charge of the drinks machine in the staff room which has to be paid for, ( Read more... )

I love Christmas.  I like the religious aspects of it, I like the overeating and hanging out with family and friends aspects of it, and I really like the pretty lights, Christmas songs, and the twinkly sparkly snowflakey chestnutty secular aspects.  But I refuse to feel Christmassy yet.  It's too soon.  I don't want to peak too early.  (Also, I ( Read more... )

Since The Parents and The Sister left on Sunday afternoon, I've mostly been asleep.  This week has been the sleepiest week I've had for ages.  In between sleeping, though, I've:
