I have two battery-powered automatic feeders that I use to feed my cats when I am out late in the evening, which is often. They are really nice and will hold five meals each (one current and 4 stored).

My tawny barn cat (pictured) is sitting in the tall grass in the paddock outside the hay barn. Relaxed but alert, he scans the ground. Every so often an ear twitches. I believe he is hunting mice.

My car almost hit a deer yesterday. unnamed525 was driving us in my Jeep Cherokee down to his father and stepmother's house in rural Ohio (border of Fayette and Pickaway Counties). I acquired an outdoor cat along with the new property. Barney is very sweet as well as a good mouser. I usually put food in his bowl on my way out as I am headed to work. Ki is doing much better. He's on three medications, which he takes pretty well. They seem to be doing him good; he's not straining and he's in much better spirits. I left the door open between Ki's room and the rest of the house pretty much all weekend. Ki seems to be taking an incremental approach to becoming accepted in the rest of the house. When my neighbors moved out of the other half of my duplex last month, they left behind their cat. For six months or more before that, they hadn't cared to make sure that he stayed inside, so he lived mainly as an outdoor cat.
