Ki is doing much better. He's on three medications, which he takes pretty well. They seem to be doing him good; he's not straining and he's in much better spirits. Unfortunately, Ki does not like the canned urinary tract health food that the vet gave me for him. Great. I think it's that he just doesn't like canned food. Polybius, on the other hand, loves it.
So now I have three cats who each have to have their own special food, and they all want each other's food. Ki wants Polybius's over-the-counter dry food, Polybius wants Ki's expensive canned food, and Patches (on a diabetic maintenance diet) wants all the food.
Naturally, I live in a house with no doors that actually latch closed. The bathroom door comes the closest; it will latch slightly but Ki can pull it open with little difficulty.
I also have a makeshift door on one of the bedrooms that I can close off by putting something heavy in front of it. But basically mealtimes now consist of me running around making sure everyone stays in their own eating room and only eats the food they are supposed to. I am both amused and aggravated by these food/mealtime shenanigans. The house I am buying has doors that latch closed. I made sure to ask specifically about that :)
Ki isn't eating a whole lot. He was doing okay with the food for the first few days but yesterday he tried to bury it. Now he only eats it at all when he is sure that's all he's going to get. I will have to go to the vet on Wednesday (the first chance I will have to drop by the vet) and get the special diet dry food for him.
So, mealtimes are a bit of a hassle, but everyone is healthy, and I am thankful for that.
