My last show my oil painting got best in show, my drawing took 1rst place, & my sculpture got 3rd. I was able to take Gypsy back to the vet & buy her more meds (she has this syndrome where the body attacks its own dental tissue, but she is doing well on meds though she will have to be on them the rest of her life) & was able to buy a new kitty ( Read more... )

This storm is bizarre- normally the worst part is north & east of the eye- but in this one that was just rain. Now that the eye is more due west of us it has suddenly gotten more violent- all night & this morning we've had severe thunderstorms & tornados- so far all tornados have been either just west of me or just north- my vet is in the path of ( Read more... )

I cut her dosage in half 3 days ago & she is doing great-I have to make a business trip in September for a couple of days & there is no one I can trust to come in daily & dose her so I am slowly weaning her off it- she'll have another week at half dose, then I'll cut that in half for another week. Our 30% chance of rain has turned into a longterm downpour. When I got back from the grocery this morning the pond out front was down 4 inches. It started raining shortly after, & when I looked out front a couple of hours later it was overflowing (its edges are higher than the surrounding area, so it was just rain, no runoff). She came through surgery beautifully! I am sooo thankful I took her to a different vet for a second opinion- the eyeball was in there- just collapsed. The vet says he examined it after removing it- it was punctured, probably a pellet gun. Shan feels ok, a touch unsteady, mostly sleeping. Woke up sore & with sinus headache, not too surprising since there have been 3 major fires in my area in 3 days, so I'm sick of smoky air.

This morning I walked out the door to find a heck of a lot of fur in the front yard- at first I thought an owl had caught a rabbit, but on closer inspection I found white & beige fur & sort of a brindle, so I'm guessing neighborhood cats have realized bigblackferal is gone for good & are arguing over who owns my front yard. Shan is more herself this afternoon.Still not eating her normal amount but eating & drinking regularly, no nausea, no litterbox problems. She still has to wear the cone, but her incision is healing well so I hope I'll be able to take it off soon & she won't bother the area-

Let me start by saying Shan is safe & home, but it was a close thing. We intended for her to have her spay & eye surgery at the same time so she would only go under anesthesia once & only suffer post-op pain once. She was fine through her spay, they got the eye socket cleaned up & ready to close but then she stopped breathing. They immediately ( Read more... )
