Seeing my payment for another year of LiveJournal prompted me to come take a look around... hello? is anybody here? I'm trying to figure out how to save my entries as PDFs--I did three years worth with the free version of BlogBooker. Don't really want to pay $20 to do the rest...

Dog!
So, last weekend we adopted a dog. We've been tossing the idea of getting a dog around for years, really, but we lately decided that a dog might help with the girl's anxieties in addition to being a family companion who could help us be better about going for walks and getting fresh air.

Happy 2016!
The end of 2015 was nice--we took a quick trip back to L.A. to visit with friends and saw just about everybody we wanted to see. Our backup plan was to eat at our favorite restaurants if we couldn't connect with people, but that ended up being unnecessary. Things
The boy and I had mild cold symptoms yesterday, so he stayed home and I roped him into going through the last of the boxes in his room. We got everything organized and cleaned--it looks really nice! Fall update: it burns! it burns!
The kids are back in school, Labor Day is done and gone, so it must be time for a heatwave, right? The girl's high school actually changed the schedule to a minimum day for today and tomorrow because of the extreme heat (no A/C in the classrooms). house stuff
J spent the week in Las Vegas at a hacker conference, but my parents and I spent the week painting the bedrooms in our new house and performing other random acts of homeownership... We can't move in until the fumigation gets taken care of (tomorrow through Wednesday evening), but we were able to hang out and make lists. I spent the night with the ( Read more... ) -
summer update
We've been at my parents' house for almost three weeks now. We're having a very nice stay and it's working out better than I'd thought as far as the cat goes. It was crazy hot here for the first week and we were suffering mightily having the cat and her litter box in our closed bedroom. The title pretty much says it all. Not very convenient! Although, as much as the packing will suffer, I'll probably make plenty of progress on my knitting over the next couple of days. -

Tuesday or something
Day two of the boy's spring break. (Which, no, is not the same as the girl's spring break.) He was invited to spend all day yesterday down at the beach with a friend's family--they took their RV down for maximum fun and comfort!
