summer update
We've been at my parents' house for almost three weeks now. We're having a very nice stay and it's working out better than I'd thought as far as the cat goes. It was crazy hot here for the first week and we were suffering mightily having the cat and her litter box in our closed bedroom. Then my mom had the bright idea of getting an unused screen door out of the attic to put across the bedroom door, so now there's more air circulating and it's much more comfortable and smells better! Escrow closed on our new house on Tuesday. I think there are still a couple more things to sign, but it's ours! And we are very poor now! We gave the sellers a month free rent-back, so it will probably be August 10th before we can move in. They're not having much luck finding a new place, although they are trying really hard. There's just not much housing where they want to go (Monterrey). It would be nice to be all moved in, but on the other hand, I guess I'm not in too big of a hurry to actually deal with moving boxes and furniture again so soon. I tweaked my back a couple days ago (stupidly, I was just stretching and trying to talk to the dog at the same time and moved wrong!) and am having sciatic pain in one of my legs (I have chronic sciatica, but this is new and different, involving a different nerve), so it's probably just as well that I have a month to recover and get back in shape. The doctor I saw is sending me to physical therapy to strengthen my core muscles--obviously all the months of prioritizing the move have caught up to me!! I'm trying muscle relaxers for the first time since the pain is so intense and nearly slept through the boy's appointment for his school vaccines this morning--if my mom hadn't come back from her walk in time to wake us up and drive us there we never would have made it! I've been watching a lot of Doc Martin and knitting lately. I'm almost done with the Minecraft pillowcase and have the supplies to do an adipose (from Doctor Who) pillowcase for the girl next. Other than that, I had two book reviews promised--one is turned in and the other I'll send in tomorrow. Then I can get back to my own writing projects...
