Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day is a good time to assess the liver strength in order to set your training regimen for the coming months. With colder weather come dark, heavy ales like winter warmers, barley wines and porters.

My liver seems to be at its ideal fighting weight at this time.

Trinity Hall is carrying Boulevard’s Smokestack series and I decided to make my way through a couple more, starting with the 750ml Saison, then the Trippel [the Quad is still the best]. A large wedding tent adorned Trinity Hall’s patio and luckily, it wasn’t on my behalf. Marius, disguised as pint toting civilian, came over to chat about the state of affairs regarding beer in Texas. I’m always glad to have informed people to chat about beer with as it gives me a feeling of hope for mankind.

The Patio People invade during warm weather and last night, they attacked Trinity Hall. Luckily the battle-hardened staff adeptly threw beer grenades with deadly accuracy [lemon wedge optional] and managed to deal with our section’s devotion to Guinness quite well.

Fewest signups ever and I got a late start due to taking MadreDiablo to Stephan Pyles. Despite the menus' nods to the Star Canyon days, I declare this a snooty dining experience that didn’t meet 100%. Good food though. It was all “Official Party Business” as Trinity Hall covered every detail hosting the Dallas 1759 Society’s second anniversary party. Trinity Hall battened down the hatches since they stuck the 1759 crew in the wind tunnel [front door/hallway] but the storm soon died down. Plus the heat was cranked. The pub was about seventy-five percent full, making things comfortable and not too loud.

Perhaps it was an ulterior motive to get us to drink more to stay warm but our designated area was near Trinity Hall’s entrance, a.k.a. “the wind tunnel”. The pub was packed with lots of groups including a dance school and some large family birthday party with a few rugrats. Kids shouldn’t be in a bar, period, but at least they were in the back.

People forget that Trinity Hall has all the big games, including American football. Due to the Cowboys game there were about 30-40% less people at the pub last night. This made things more relaxed than usual for all involved.
