I have a feeling I'm going to like Ayli. She's so different from the rest of her people. From Dylan himself, even. The fact that they both want the kind of lifestyle you can only get on the other's planet? Fucking awesome, dude. This shows that not everyone on Zimara is meant to live that kind of lifestyle that has become the norm there -- just like some people on Earth don't fit the norm for Earth, either.

I know you weren't expecting to write a bunch of feels in this but it comes across really well. Sometimes our stories just do their thing, y'know?

Ayli seems like she might be a character who really does her own thing. She's like "I am angsty and you will deal with it," haha.

Your Normal Is Our Taboo, huh?

I'm glad the (very unexpected!) feels worked for you. :)

Yeah, sometimes stories just do what they want, our own personal opinions on what we think should happen be damned.

I liked the "sadistic author" line. I think I'm one of those sadistic authors. Oops.

I think it's fine to curse in front of a princess. Princesses say fuck, right?

I don't think Ayli's opinions are that bizarre. Dylan used to think mind control sex was freaky too, at the beginning of his story. Oh, how things have changed for him. Ayli does seem a little melodramatic, but she has a point. Yeah, freedom and choice may not happen as much as we want them here, but would not having them at all be better? Hm, maybe not.

Ayli's opinions aren't bizarre at all. Dylan is the one with weird opinions (for a native Earthling). I think he's finding her opinions so odd, despite originally sharing some of them, because she's Zimaran and grew up in that culture. So he's wondering how someone who was exposed to mind control as a normal thing would find it so off-putting.

It's funny. If anybody's a "normal Earth person" viewpoint character, it's probably Ayli. We haven't met many Earthlings with actual screentime. Dylan doesn't count for "normal Earthling" AT ALL and his parents don't, either! Even Preston is a little too ridiculous in his opinions/behavior to be the "average Earth person" POV character. So, if anyone is that, it's probably Ayli who thinks mind control sex is weird.

If you're a sadistic author, I'm worse! Look at what I'm doing to your characters! :O
