Despite the nasty bike accident I had the other day, I still managed to enjoy the weekend quite a bit. The bike accident was strange -- I tried to stop normally, and suddenly I was flying in all directions. I finally finished watching the Ken Burns film about Lewis and Clark on Netflix "Watch Now". Some interesting things I learned:

• They came quite close to failure I hadn't realized how close they came to failure in the Rockies, where at one point they were reduced to eating candles!
• Using Sacagawea as a translator required several steps; one Indian ( Read more... )

Am being terribly unproductive today. I have been putting together a playbook for the Cynnabar band and ran across something called Audiveris, which takes images of sheet music and produces MusicXML. It seems to work at least as well as some of the commercial music-scanning software I've tried, but the interface is pretty painful. The dream is to ( Read more... )
