I finally finished watching the Ken Burns film about Lewis and Clark on Netflix "Watch Now". Some interesting things I learned:
  • They came quite close to failure I hadn't realized how close they came to failure in the Rockies, where at one point they were reduced to eating candles!
  • Using Sacagawea as a translator required several steps; one Indian language to another through Sacagawea, that other Indian language to French through her husband Charbonneau, then finally French to English.
  • When they were on the Columbia River there were plenty of salmon to eat, but the men didn't want to eat fish. They ended up eating dog for several weeks!
  • I didn't realize that they had journeyed back the way they came instead of aboard a ship from the West Coast.

Very interesting! As usual, the best part was the background music: when they were talking about times when the expedition was celebrating, the tune Stingo (or Juice of Barley) was used as background music. Anyway, now I'm going to go put up some fliers promoting MyAura, our new App Store application.
