For Lent: giving up anything not diet-worthy. Including (::sobs::) my wine. Except for two occasions: this Saturday night (because we're supposedly having a Murder Party) and Opera Night, when Mom and I always have a glass of wine sitting in the lobby beforehand.

I started "Zumba 2" on the Wii Monday night. It's fun. And it's a hell of a workout - I'm doing the low intensity, short class (about 20 minutes), and it's pretty intense for me. Done right, it's burning at least 250 calories a shot, too. (I'm not doing it 100% right - I can't do the jumping they do because of bad knees, but it's still better than ( Read more... )

For the last two weeks, I've been dieting. Doing a good job of it, too. The key has been doin it in concert with Mom. We are honor-bound to e-mail each other with our nutritional intake every day, and it's working great. When I'm tempted to cheat, I don't. And we encourage each other, also. Whee! I'm down six pounds from Monday! AND we discovered that we can have root beer floats at night instead of the Nutrisystem desserts, as long as we use diet root beer and low-carb ice cream. So we had one while watching The Dark Knight last night.

Started back on the diet today, but, even though it's almost 2:00, I only just ate breakfast (and not all of the breakfast - I've still got my yogurt to eat) about an hour ago, so I'm not ready for lunch, yet.
