Yuck.  So did not want to face the day.  Today is a good curl up in front of the fire day.  It's cooler, rainy, dreary.  I good day for fire and hot cocoa.  Unfortunately we are about out of wood.  The basement is colder so Gary has been building small fires in the evenings/night to keep warm since there is no heat in that area.  I don't mind but ( Read more... )

@#%&*#@$*  That hurts!  I was just loading the wood stove and dumb a$$ me tried to shove a log that was too big in and in the process burned the underside of my arm on the loading door!

I hate that.  I haven't burned myself on a wood stove in years, the oven yes, not the wood stove.

We got snow this weekend.  LOTS of it.  Ok not lots but 2 or 3 inches.  It has been bitterly cold but the nice warm fire in the house has been wonderful.  I blew off work yesterday to stay home and enjoy it.

Tomorrow will be day 3 for Jeff. Co. to be out for "road conditions"  I will say that the main roads are clear but, the side and back roads ( Read more... )

So I have to work today.  My dad has gone to a trade show in Georgia (wish I could have gone) so I am here at the store.  I wish I didn't have to be here.  I am sick and I want to be home laying around the house.  It seems to be all sinuses; headache, stuffy nose, sore throat, etc.  Nothing major just kinda blah ( Read more... )

Of course, all of this looking for Harry, made me realize how much of a complete mess our back yard is.   We need to cut back our forsythia to a more manageable size-it is taking over our other wood pile and is so covered in vines and other growth on one side you can't tell where the bush ends and the other vegetation begins ( Read more... )

I love the smell of a wood fire.  It is wonderful and warm.  We ran out of wood today, for the second time this season and had to go to the in-laws to get more.  My Neon does not hold nearly as much wood as my mini-van did, or even the Intrepid.  We got about 4-5 days worth last time.  I hope that we get more out of it than that.  We did load the ( Read more... )
