Last week was particularly tense. Everything seemed to come together at work in such a way to slam us hard. First off, half the team was off for some training. Then came the US cold snap that closed the support operation there for over a day. Well, things are improving. We're settling into that post-Christmas routine. D'Artagnan is definitely part of the family, divaflip 's back at work, and the wedding plans are beginning to progress.

Well, this is my last working weekend. Can't say that I'll miss it. Yesterday was a nightmare because our field staff didn't have enough heads to cope with the projected number of field visits. We spent several hours rescheduling them with angry customers. I can only imagine the same will happen today.

It's a week late, but it's done. I've completed writing the registration program for the SydCon website. I'll put out the official announcements tomorrow when I get home from work as I am currently too wrecked to do anything other than go to bed.

The weather was beautiful this weekend. Shame I spent it all coding indoors.

Wow. I used some leave to take a 4-day long weekend, and I haven't had very much downtime.

Friday I interviewed for roles with AAPT and Apple. I have an offer with the former, and a positive response from the latter. Overally, AAPT offers better career prospects and what is likely to be a more interesting job... but Apple! There, it's out of my ( Read more... )

For those who don't also follow divaflip 's journal, we got news about a week ago that Xanthos probably died on the day he went missing. I got in from work last Saturday, and was told by my next door neighbour that the lady in the house behind us had some news, but it probably wasn't good.

Well, it's almost two weeks, and still no sign of Xanthos. I even went back to Pennant Hills in case in some bizarre fit of homesickness, he decided to wander back. Argent's still not dealing. She's very clingy, and has taken to wandering the house calling out for him. Partly for her sake, we're looking at getting a kitten.

Nothing like ruining your weekend with illness.

I've had gastro since yesterday afternoon. I think it's mostly passed (ha!), but I'm still feeling weak and dehydrated.

It meant that I couldn't drink booze last night, and was relatively subdued at the small gathering that divaflip  organised. Plus I missed out on shift loadings because I couldn't work ( Read more... )
