Wow. When was my last post?

No, not that movie, or the SydCon announcements...

September 8: Iron Maiden coming to town

Right. A lot has gone on in the intervening month...

The SRGA crew and I have been working stupidly hard on SydCon. It will be such a relief when I hand the keys over on Monday night, let me tell you! I only finished the scheduling around 3 this morning. I've done my best to make everyone happy, but nothing can be 100% when people insist on playing together but give impossible availability. Anyway, I'll keep the rest of that rant to myself. divaflip sounded totally over me complaining last night.

On the job front, I interviewed with Rod R's company, first as a helpdesk guy for their new ERP, then as a developer for Crystal reports and their Intranet. I got turned down for the first because I was overqualified, and accepted for the second, which I turned down because I felt that it was too big a job for me.

The day after I turned that down (which was Wednesday), Symantec finally called and said they wanted to check my references! So, given that they pass (and they should - I listed Drew and Megan), I may be moving up in the world.

And then there's my health. Just when everything is going fine, I dislocated my shoulder on my first day of annual leave (last Monday). Worse still, I did it at the gym. No, I wasn't doing any exercise; I had just finished some bench presses and was pulling myself up from under the bar. I must have twisted my arm the wrong way or something. Anyway, I was in total control and handled the situation like a pro. I just hope that I haven't scared my trainer off since he's really good and I really need his help.

So yeah, in short, I'm sleeping with a sling on and taking it easy on the week when I need to be lifting heavy slabs of soft drink and bags of ice.

Onyx has settled in well. Once SydCon is out of the way I'll post some photos, and a movie that one of lotusvine's friends took.

I've also started wasting time using Facebook. I've rediscovered a whole bunch of people that I went to JIS with and never thought I'd hear from again. If you're on that evil timesink, look me up with my gmail address (daedalist).
