Onyx's lab tests came back inconclusive. It's definitely not cancer, but there's a 60% chance it could be Feline Infectious Peritonitis. I've asked for a more conclusive test to be done, but we won't know until around Tuesday ( Read more... )

As divaflip has posted, Onyx has gone in for surgery today. I've just returned from dropping him off at the vet's. I'm sure they're very competent, but can't help being a little bit worried.

Still, in the best of worlds, it will be some benign growth that they can remove and we'll never have to worry about it again.

StumbledUpon an interesting article that says cats are genetically incapable of tasting sugars. This is probably linked to their general inability to process carbohydrates. As a pet owner, what interests me is at the end of the article:

For those who don't also follow divaflip 's journal, we got news about a week ago that Xanthos probably died on the day he went missing. I got in from work last Saturday, and was told by my next door neighbour that the lady in the house behind us had some news, but it probably wasn't good.

Well, it's almost two weeks, and still no sign of Xanthos. I even went back to Pennant Hills in case in some bizarre fit of homesickness, he decided to wander back. Argent's still not dealing. She's very clingy, and has taken to wandering the house calling out for him. Partly for her sake, we're looking at getting a kitten.

I read it on the net, so it must be true? I can't decide if the pic looks photoshopped. There's something sad about baby kittens dying, though. :(
