That was one hell of a weekend...

I'm still recovering from last weekend. It just never seemed to end.

Friday night saw me go straight from work to Una's restaurant at Broadway to celebrate Will's graduation (finally!). The food was great, and I strongly recommend it to anybody who likes German food, large portions, and decent pricing. The weather was crazy, and I wasn't sure that Lady Luck would cross the Harbour Bridge in one piece, but we got there.

It was really good to see Will and his family and friends again. Everybody seems to be doing well. It was especially good to catch up with Auntie Karina (I was seated next to her), especially when she regaled the table with embarassing stories about William and his siblings ;-)

From Broadway to the North Shore. Mel was arriving for the weekend, and this was my only real chance to catch up. I got to Jo's place (she was staying with him), and waited while they got back from the airport. From there, we went to Maisy's 24 hr cafe in Neutral bay and stayed up stupidly late catching up as only siblings can.

Saturday was a mess. divaflip and I were to go to Brett and Helen's wedding, but Flip woke with a migraine that prevented her from going. Probably for the best, since the wedding was in the Chinese Gardens, and the weather had only marginally improved. Anyway, on my drive hom from Lane Cove the night before, I realised that I had not got a present, so I did something only the insane contemplate: I went to Westfield Parramatta on a Saturday. What the hell was I thinking? Fortunately, it was a sale weekend, so the payoff was pretty good. I found an 18-piece Royal Doulton glassware set at a great price. So awesome that I got one for myself.

Got home post-haste to wrap the present and get changed. Hooned down to Darling Harbour as fast as I dared. Got there just as the ceremony was starting. It was very unique. I've already mentioned the venue. There was a vaguely European Medieval theme, and people were dressed up in costume. The ceremony included a handfasting, drinking from a wedding cup. After the ceremony, I helped change the venue from ceremony mode to reception mode (I don't think the venue was particularly helpful with regards to this; I get the impression that it was a bit of a first for the Chinese Gardens).

I was pretty impressed that we managed to fit so many people in, but it was still pretty cold. As divaflip had abandoned me, I spent my time with Brett's friends, who were a very entertaining bunch. I left a bit early, as I had to get up early to drive to Canberra on Sunday morning.

I think I'll leave it there for the moment.
