I posted last night about having timeable but mostly painless contractions. They became painful and were 2.5 minutes apart for two hours so hubby and I braved the blizzard and went to L&D as per doctor (and LJ) instructions.

Only then the contractions went back to being painless and the monitors weren't picking up most of them. Sigh.

I was watching the new series of One Born Every Minute last night on Channel 4 (UK), and the hospital in Leeds featured a new ‘active birth’ suite. I hadn’t come across this term or concept before, but it appeared to feature a number of chairs, cushions, slings and groovy lighting that facilitate a natural, pain-relief-free birth. So I've been going to a midwife this whole pregnancy. I'm 40 +2 today. I did The Bradley Method as my birth class and have been very keen on my weight gain, health and protein intake.
