Aussie first time mama-to-be :)

Hi everyone. My name is Gemma, I'm 27 and I'm 8 weeks along in my first pregnancy. :) So far everything's going great and my partner and I are so exited, but I just found out that my local public hospital (I live in Australia) can't fit me in for a 12 week scan.

I'm feeling rather frustrated and I'm worried that they won't be able to fit me in when I'm having the kid! I know that sounds extreme, I am only (half) kidding. Our option is to skip the 12 week scan (which my partner doesn't want to do), or go private and pay for the scan (which I don't want to do as we're trying to save for a new car... among other things).

I'm also interested in home birthing, but sadly in Australia it's illegal for midwives to attend home births. So I could pay big bucks for a doctor to attend the birth, or wait until I am ready to pop and have an ambo (ambulance officer) deliver the baby in my driveway. LOL!

Anyway, I'm just blowing off steam here... so any comments, questions, pep talks and rants are welcome. Nice to meet you all. :)
