(no subject)

I posted last night about having timeable but mostly painless contractions. They became painful and were 2.5 minutes apart for two hours so hubby and I braved the blizzard and went to L&D as per doctor (and LJ) instructions.

Only then the contractions went back to being painless and the monitors weren't picking up most of them. Sigh.

She did an exam and said I'm nearly 100% effaced but not dilated yet. We got sent home.

I'm just annoyed bc I HATE going in for "no reason" like that. I have trouble sleeping and we have basically no family help so going to bed at 3:00AM and getting up today at 7:00 sucked and I'm just tired, still somewhat crampy and annoyed.

I guess I'm frustrated bc I followed all the "rules" and it was still false labor or whatever. And the nurse was kinda snarky to me about being there - as if we wanted to drive there in the middle of the night during a blizzard when I have a 2 year old sleeping at home. (His aunt came to sit at our house don't worry).

Anyway I have a question:

I know it's all totally subjective but does being fully effaced mean labor is coming sooner rather than later?

And also, also: anyone else have experience with just saying "eff it" to the "rules" of when you're supposed to go in and get checked out? I basically don't want to set foot in that hospital again until the baby is crowning (an exaggerating obviously but you know what I mean). I just hate going in there and getting sent back home again. It's mentally and physically draining.
