I've had a week and a half now of not going to work. Of course everyone is curious to know how I've been spending my time, but I haven't felt much like sharing, for no real reason except that I'm not yet entirely at home in my new life at home. On my last day at work, I sent out a farewell message with my contact info and, as I said, a "long, rambling, self-absorbed" tale about my time at Yahoo! It doesn't contain any proprietary information, so I'm repeating it here.

I don't have to go to work anymore. It hasn't really sunk in yet, and I expect that even when Monday morning comes and I don't have to go into the office, it still won't feel real that this is a long-term situation. ( About my last week of work )

I gave myself the month of February off from writing. I thought that with the free time when I'd usually be working on my novels, I'd make some LJ posts about my novels, but that didn't end up happening. This is my final week of work, so starting next week, I'll have lots of time for both writing and meta-writing. ( Notes on writing and work )

Everything's all official now, so I can talk about it here: At the beginning of March, I'll be leaving my job at Yahoo! in order to focus on writing full-time. This is something I've been dreaming about for a long while and seriously planning for months, and I'm extremely excited that now it's actually happening. ( More details )
