I need to renew my antivirus: I currently have 2-user AVG which is awesome, and I only paid a fiver for it last year. It's now £50-odd and so I should get something else. I usually go for the cheapest/best value (2-user) deals on dabs/ebuyer, but do you have any suggestions?

I got a phonecall last Thursday telling me that the selection day at Hoval will be on the 19th August, so I've started listening to German radio (Deutschlandfunk) streamed off the Internet, to get back into the whole German 'zone'. I'm off sick with a throat infection (not that I wanted to go in today anyway, in case I didn't get home again!). Attempted to create a network today, between the upstairs and downstairs computers: no luck. the upstairs (older) one was fine accepting everything, but then I had only just installed Windows XP on it. I've finally drawn all the drawings for ConTech and I reckon it'll take me until end of Sunday to line them all out, render and annotate them. That leaves me 4 days to get everything together, write up stuff for the photographs (once I've decided which I should actually use) and hand it in on the Friday morning. Right, who knows about Internet cookies? Our cookies have all been eaten deleted and we didn't do it. Worse, they won't come back. And Fast Switching doesn't work: if Matt's logged on and I Switch User, I get as far as the Welcome Screen but can't get into my account, or anyone else's except Matt's; it just diverts me back to the Welcome Screen ( Read more... )

Computer has been fixed. They did, in fact, fit something which I was kind of annoyed about (especially as they charged me £55 labour) but I at least know it wasn't terminal (as a couple of my CompSci friends suggested after the fixing). Computer is, well, ready to be picked up. They've not said that they've fixed anything, nor have they had my authorisation to do so, but they didn't give me my options either (pick it up or leave it to be fixed) so I'm going to pick it up tomorrow evening and if they want £150 for a new motherboard plus £30 labour, I'll tell them I've not agreed ( Read more... )
