I feel a bit bad. It turns out that Barbie is very easy to train. Turns out it isn't that I'm a bad or inconsistient trainer, it's that Bender is just not very quick on the uptake. I've decided to buy a new rear wheel for the LHT. I'm getting a Mavic/Alivio from Wiggle for $80 or so. It's not the most heavy duty wheel, but I am not a heavy rider, and so I expect my gear to last longer than gear for a 100kg dude. I have been thinking for ages about an ideal companion for Bender, and I think that we are going to find a cat safe greyhound which Bender loves. It has to be a very sociable dog because Bender's main problem is that he can't be bothered with other dogs, and we want him to be more interested in them. Seems like when we are busy on the weekend, the house just becomes a pigsty all by itself. Need to vacuum and do laundry and dishes and stuff. Want to take Bender down to the river tonight but I think the 2k round trip might be a bit much for his little wrist yet. I don't want to overdo it. He seems to be travelling OK now but still has to wait another week til he's allowed off leash. I always knew Bender was accident prone. When I got home today, he was curled up on his bed, and when he got up to see me he couldn't bear weight on his front left leg. Once I got him settled down I saw his knee was swollen - its technically called a 'stifle'. I think that he had discovered the other day he could jump on the front wall of the house ( Read more... )
