Thanks to a handyman video posted on the internet I have managed to free the painted-in screws on the broken door hinge on my bedroom door without destroying the hinge or the frame. Now it just needs filling, as the holes on the old hinge (which was, incredibly some sort of plastic, presumably dating back to 1967 when this house was built) do not ( Read more... )

When we had a new boiler put in the engineer took out the old copper hot water tank (and all the piping - perk of the job), leaving the bottom half of our airing cupboard with a gaping hole running the height of the house where the old boiler flue pipe runs. It's been an odd week.I've spent most of it doing a scratch edition of the cat club newsletter ready for this Saturday (just discovered that the template I intended to use will not print out as I want - cue much cursing and cutting and pasting to an unformatted document).
