My dad has been growing lots of produce this summer, including a bunch of lettuce behind the shed. I've been making salads every weekend and it's been great. Our house has long been a beacon to critters. We haven't had outside pets in 20 years, whereas the surrounding houses had dogs for the longest time. We were a refuge from that. It's unusually warm right now, highs in the mid-50s. It was very foggy this morning and didn't burn off until about 9 AM. Mom and I both had to work, and grandma had a doctor's appointment. A couple weeks ago, we'd had a rabbit keeping an eye on our front lawn. Unbeknownst to me, there was a rabbit den in the middle of the grass. Well, I discovered when I came home from work one day that the sentinel rabbit and one of the babies were no longer with us. About a week and a half ago, I came home at night and scared a couple rabbits who apparently were canoodling. As of Saturday at 1 PM, the full driveway is available to us. But it wasn't until yesterday, while I was gone, that dad moved his car to park on the extension. When I got home, I was then able to pull all the way up to where dad had been parking, which leaves the bottom half of the driveway open and also facilitates dad being able to drive right ( Read more... )
