We lost Liam's mom, probably yesterday. Liam's brother became worried when she wasn't answering her phone or door bell so He went to Bay Ridge and I think he found her. Details are still sketchy. I will know more when he calls with the arrangements.

2016 can pog mo thoin.

My mom died this morning at the age of 80. The last few days had been very hard for her. I did my best to make them a little brighter.

My Uncle Joe is finally at peace and, I firmly believe, reunited with my Aunt Margie, his mother and the rest of the clan.

Safe Journey and God speed Uncle Joe. It's been a strange journey these last few years and, in the end, I am glad I had a part in it. Love you.

My Uncle Joe decided last week to cease his dialysis treatments. I have been going every day to see him and each time, he has slipped a little further into unconsciousness. This morning, I am making his final arrangements ( Read more... )

Last night, somewhere between 700-800 motorcycles rode down to the site and laid a wreath at midnight near the entry to the PATH trains. We are not allowed into the site proper since this is not an official run. At some point, a woman on one of the city's rental bikes joined us for a few blocks as she tried to make her way somewhere. My Uncle Joe is in the hospital. He is my father's sister's husband and I can't say we are really close. We talk 3 or 4 times a year, send each other Christmas and birthday cards and he comes to my summer cookouts and occasionally Christmas dinner. Two very good things happened yesterday, One, I spent almost the entire day with fangorn which was happy making and battery charging. Two, I did the Easter cemetery run. At Christmas and Easter, I lay decorations on the graves of my family. Some of those people were gone before I was even a twinkle in my parent's eye. Whole Beads was my first bead show years ago. I loved the space it was in, The Pennsylvania Hotel, and the 3 sprawling rooms I wandered through.
