You all have really helped me improve my statement of purpose, so I thought I'd ask you for some advice! 
As I prepare to send off my applications to three schools, there is one school who's program I am not so sure about. 
I want to teach African American literature, Women Studies, and writing and rhetoric (I know its a lot).

I'm rewriting a SoP for doctoral programs in English.  There is a good chance that in contextualizing my goals within the critical conversation, I will end up mentioning theorists from University X, which I hope to apply to.  This would be just before my fit paragraph.  What is the protocol on this?  Will U X's adcomm think it looks like I haven't ( Read more... )

Hi everyone. I just wanted to start off by saying that I think this is such a great journal with everyone supporting and encouraging each other. Great to see that. Anyway, this is another one of those questions regarding the GRE. I got a 780(84%) for biology subject, 600(85%) Verbal, 740(82%) Quantitative, but a 4.0(33%)Writing.
