I got my first paycheque this week from the law firm. It's nice, for a change, to not feel like I'm helplessly fiscally fucked. For the first time in a very long time, I will have a "free cheque" (I won't need to pay any bills as I did that this week), and it's a great feeling ( Read more... ) -
Work Woes
I have a lot to post here, but first the most immediate stuff: my hours were, once again, cut at my work -- almost an entire month earlier than anticipated. Carl and Icelandic
It seems Carl has been studying Icelandic ... which surprises the fuck out of me. This is the same man who absolutely refused to learn any Japanese upon going to Japan, meaning he was dependent upon people who were able to communicate the entire time he was there ( Read more... ) -
Being broke
This weekend the Bristol Renaissance Faire opens up, and as much as I'd love to be there, money woes won't allow it. I have my Boston trip at the end of the month and other bills to pay, which means very little wiggle room in the meantime. I've been working reduced hours since May and I have no idea when this will end. It's disappointing, really ( Read more... ) -

My mother keeps trying to give me money, and I always refuse. She has offered to buy me a laptop, pay to fix Carl's car, and buy me a plane ticket, and while it's nice and I appreciate the gesture, my mother simply isn't in the position to be tossing money away. Yom Kippur
So, I'll be once again heading towards Chicago for Yom Kippur and spending it -- the whole thing, this time -- with Or Chadash. Early Warning System: No Weekend?
Carl's car is kind of fucked, and in need of repairs.
Which means, depending on how much money it'll take to do said repairs, I may or may not be doing my little weekend (since the cash I have will be going towards that). Right now it's not looking good... -

- Oh my God, the new firmware to my MP3 player will play C64 .SID music files!! Isn't it sad that I get excited over stupid things like this?
- nytemarewulf and I went to a bookstore yesterday. Sometimes I hate not having money to splurge, because there's always so many books I want when I'm there ... ;_;

Not Multilingual Monday, but on the topic of foreign shows ...
Whenever I'm in the kitchen and I'm cooking or eating by myself, or even if I'm doing the dishes, I'll turn on the little TV in the kitchen as a distraction, and being the xenophile that I am I'll watch the foreign-language networks we have in the area on broadcast TV (as it's not like there's cable or anything going into the kitchen).
