JLPT Annoyance
So, I've been studying for taking the JLPT, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. Old maps and Zheng He
I was at a used bookseller the other day while waiting for a bus and picked up the book 1421 -- you may have known about it, but I didn't, for I was simply drawn in by some of the old maps in the book and, at $6, I can't say no to old world cartography. :: laugh :: Apparently the author claims that the Chinese admiral 鄭和, Zheng He. traveled further ( Read more... ) -
Not quite Multilingual Monday, or: Prove Me Wrong!
I'm convinced right now that NOTHING is being currently published in the Cherokee tongue, be it in the Cherokee script or in romanization. All of the Cherokee newspapers I see are English, and the only book I've seen with substantial amounts of Cherokee outside of learners' materials, is the New Testament ( Read more... ) -

- Oh my God, the new firmware to my MP3 player will play C64 .SID music files!! Isn't it sad that I get excited over stupid things like this?
