Nakia, or: this is what my journal's for
I have to say, I am so proud of my friend Nakia. I met him back in 2001 or 2002, when he lived in Chicago and played at piano bars, singing self-penned music in what I thought was a fantastic voice. I sure do! As much as there's a part of me that loves more serious projects like portraiture, one of my childhood dreams was to draw comics for a living, and it remains even as I get older and realize how much of the standard Sunday comic fare kind of blows. Mother: The Update
So Sunday afternoon I visited my mother. I wanted to see her last month and I hadn't been able to do so, and she was looking well. She surprised the hell out of me by leaving the house.
