Where a kid can be a kid
So finally, after nearly two years in trying to procure the damned things, I'm finally getting my hands on two books in Cherokee.
The catch? They're children's books, and yes, it's easy to scoff because they're kids' books. However, I need to start with my Cherokee studies somewhere, and I don't think I'm quite ready to jump into very complex Cherokee prose. And even if I were, I CAN'T FIND ANY. Seriously, where are all the authors writing in Cherokee??
So now, in languages that I'm less proficient in, I've been looking for kids' materials -- for example, Bukaya, a learner's magazine for Amharic. It might seem silly initially not to aim higher, but keep in mind that my spoken/written Hebrew wouldn't be where it is today without The Cat In The Hat in the language.
