Nicky came out of her cage all on her own today! This is a big deal for her, as she is still fairly cage-bound. I've been working on it with her since she arrived, and she has become better, but, it is still generally the rule that you could leave her cage open day and night and she'd never come out. The snow is melting fast, fast, fast! But, we did manage to go XC skiing both yesterday and today. Yesterday we went in the afternoon, down a path along a river. Very pretty, but the skiing was bruuuuutal. There were many people also using the area to walk in the snow, plus the snow was an odd consistency, so it was a lot of work. We're back from vacation... went to Florida again, but to different parts, which kept it fun. Flew in to MCO, trolled down to Palm Beach to meet up with our friend DH, then down to the Keys (where we stayed most of the time), then through the Everglades and up the west coast back to Orlando. Little Nicky suddenly has a lot of suitors. Got an application from someone who I think is likely not the right home for her (too many other pets) and as that person was gently steered away toward another TBD bird, I heard that there's a couple who may be interested in taking her. I just delivered Papaya to Vicky, who will transfer Papaya onward to her new home. I'll miss her goofy little self -- she's a funny, comical little bird and has a unique way of singing. I REALLY hope that the people like her colours and her personality and that she becomes a happy part of their family. She will be going home with them on Wednesday ( Read more... )
