I just delivered Papaya to Vicky, who will transfer Papaya onward to her new home. I'll miss her goofy little self -- she's a funny, comical little bird and has a unique way of singing. I REALLY hope that the people like her colours and her personality and that she becomes a happy part of their family. She will be going home with them on Wednesday if it all works out.
Mango will be going to someone else on Saturday morning. I need to take her to the Rescue's 'how to care for a bird' seminar, where her new person will get 'certified' and then take her home. I think I'll take Nicky too and see if anyone falls for her. I could very easily see that happening, since she's so sweet and cute. (I learned today that she knows the wolf whistle, but, she only does it really softly and if she's already excited and chirping. She also stepped up from inside her cage!!! Hooray!) There will also be a adoptable Scarlet Macaw going to the seminar; not sure what other birds may be there. Maybe some tiels?
When I got to Vicky this evening she was on the phone with someone who has a bunch of birds to give up: 23(!) cockatiels, 6-8 LBs, 2 cherry headed conures, 3-4 other various conures, at least one smaller amazon, a B&G and a TAG. Since Papaya and Mango are going to new homes, I'll likely take in 2+ of the LBs short term. No idea if they are tame or not. Supposedly some are "interesting" LBs, including blue mutation black masks, so that could be fun. I've only ever had peachfaces. I'd love to foster a really exotic LB, but, can't imagine that's going to happen.
