Renovations and thermoinsulations are clearly the hottest topic in the constructions in this country this year. They are changing the faces of towns more than usual constructions these days. As in any other activity there are successes and failures. So I need to devote several reports about the renovations done this year in Kaunas:

Construction is going to the end of the new building here in Kaunas. Building is rather typical but it's purpose is rather seldom for these times - research institute. This is new building of future Institute of food technologies which will be the part of Kaunas university of technology:

In the photo you can see Chemical technologies faculty of Kaunas university of technology. At moment this building is undergoing process of renovation as many public buildings in Lithuania this year. And I want to write short report about the wall of this building :)

This is still going construction of residential house here in Kaunas. It is not a garage, not a depot, not an other quasi-industrial enterprise. It is hard to find such a mixture of brutalism, futurism, post-modernism etc.
Decoration is done from the steel plates. Looking to such a house you can feel the limits of unlimited flight of architect's ( Read more... )

In recent months I observed that some residential projects on halt began to show some activities again. Of course most of them were projects started before the Autumn 2008 and were postponed, delayed or temporary stopped. But the project developed by the company "Centromera" deserves the status to be called first post-crisis project in Kaunas ( ( Read more... )
